To the free people of the world
We understand your anger
at the attackers who are in service of the
Islamic Regime of Iran in regard to the
attack perpetrated on the Embassy of Great
Britain in Tehran. We believe the same as
you that these acts of IRI agents are
“indefensible transgressions” and that they
are “an affront to international dignity.”
We strongly condemn this
barbaric and immoral act, which is against
normal international conduct as well as
being against Iranian culture of hospitality
and respect.
We believe that these types of
conduct by the leaders of the Islamic
Republic of Iran are rooted in provocative
actions resulting from realization that they
are isolated inside and outside of the
country. In order to preserve themselves
they have resorted to provocative actions
that only help the international war mongers
to attack Iran militarily.
The perpetrators of this
unfortunate action have irresponsibly
endangered the national security of Iran as
a country and her people and they think that
by repeating the takeover of U S Embassy and
taking American diplomats for 444 days
immediately after the Iranian revolution,
they can strengthen their shaken and
illegitimate power base inside the country.
Interestingly when the
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman gleefully
talks about “strong reaction of the
students” and “an unfortunate event”
regarding the attacks against the British
Embassy, it gives us a catastrophic message
that they are
planning a grave war against Iranian people.
Proposals for additional
sanctions by the UK were launched about a
week before the meeting of the Foreign
Ministers of the European Union, and showed
the extent and the gravity of the new
sanctions to the ruling authorities of IRI.
They know that by adopting these sanctions
not only normal trade (including purchase of
oil from Iran) will stop but also with
sanctioning of the Iranian Central Bank all
the foreign exchange transactions of Iran
will be reduced.
One should ask why IRI
knowing about the effects of these policies
and given its own dire situation continues
with these type of behavior? The prevailing
understanding in our society is that the
leaders of IRI are knowingly moving toward a
confrontation with the West.
By giving the order to
take over the British Embassy, the leaders
of IRI have decided to proceed toward
confrontation, including a military one,
with all its devastating consequences.
Unfortunately,
international media uses terms such as
“Iran” and “students. ”Today in Iran, there
is a theocratic ruling class in power, which
has nothing to do with Iran and its cultural
and historical past. The groups of thugs
that attacked the British Embassy are part
of the same thugs that have been used many
times to attack real student gatherings and
other Iranians who have been organizing
pro-democracy events.
In order to replace the
ruling IRI regime by a secular and
democratic government, who will be defender
of peace, and strive for good
relations with all the governments of the
world, the Iranian people have paid dearly.
We ask you to accept our
message of peace and friendship, which to
the best of our knowledge are desired by the
majority of the people of Iran, and relay
them to your political leaders as well as to
the media. We also request that you should
try your best to influence your
representatives’ decision process against
the IRI ruling authorities, not to go
forward with decisions that end up in war
and military actions. Any military action,
rather than weakening the power of the
ruling elite, will cause their
reorganization, the same as what happened
after the war between Iraq and Iran. War
postpones the democratic march of Iranian
people toward freedom.
The Iran National
Front-Abroad is an organization based on the
democratic legacy and principles of the late
Dr. Mossadegh, former Prime Minister of Iran
and leader of Iran National Front. The Iran
National Front-Abroad strives to establish a
government of national unity, a government
that will respect international laws and
treaties as well as promotes peace, and will
have good relations with all the governments
of the world.
Support the Iranian
people’s struggle for establishing a
democratic and secular government in Iran.
