Open Letter of
the Iran National Front- Organizations
Abroad
to
The President of
the United States of America
The
Honorable Barack Obama, President of the
United States of America:
Your
Nowruz message to the Iranian people was
wonderfully explicit and clear in solidarity
with the Iranian people. The Iranian people
had doubts whether you had sided with the
people or with their brutal tyrants. The
Iranian people had asked you whether you
stood with them or with their oppressors. In
your Nowruz message, you explicitly stated
that: “I am with you” and not with the
regime. Your emphasis that the regime’s
actions indicate their fears of the
democratic demands of the Iranian people and
that Iran’s future
will not be determined by fear but by the
youth, gave your Nowruz message a superb
sincerity.
The
struggles of the people in the past few
months against the dictatorships in the
Middle East and North
Africa have illustrated that
international support has had a role in the
victory of the pro-democracy movements. We
trust the amazing power of the Iranian
people in the struggle for freedom and
liberation. We are delighted that you share
this view as well. The Iranian people are
aware that international support for their
struggles will expedite their victory
against the tyrannical regime brutalizing
them. At the same time, the Iranian people
oppose military invasion, actions that
endanger the territorial integrity of Iran, imposing of a new dictatorship, and looting
of
Iran’s
national wealth under any pretext.
The
Iran National Front- Organizations Abroad is
part of the pro-democracy and nationalist
movement of Iran. The Iran National Front
was established in 1949 by Dr. Mohammad
Mossadegh with the objectives of
establishing a government based on the rule
of law and the commitment to the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights. The INF has
remained faithful to its original objectives
of establishing the rule of law, democracy,
and human rights.
Your
earlier mentioning of the coup d’ etat by
the CIA and the British intelligence service
in 1953 against the nationalist and
democratic government of Dr. Mossadegh
probably indicates that you are aware of the
great negative impact of the coup on Iran
and the region. The 1953 coup caused great
lack of trust of the U.S. among the Iranian people. In
the light of the previous
U.S.
support for dictatorship, we regard your
recent message a great positive step in
gaining the support and trust of the Iranian
people. We hope that the U.S. government’s new policy in support of
democracy in
Iran
and the region continues. This new direction
toward support for democracy will help will
usher in an era of friendship between the
U.S.
and the peoples of
Iran
and the region. The 1953 coup, which
undermined democracy and independence of Iran destroyed democracy in Iran and caused anti-Americanism in Iran. A genuine
friendship between the
U.S.
with Iran
and other countries in the region that are
based on mutual respect and mutual interests
not only are beneficial to the
U.S.
but also would help world peace. Such
friendly and humane milieu could only be
achieved in a Middle
East that is free from
dictatorships and enjoys freedom.
Again, we thank you for your sincere support
of the democratic demands of the Iranian
people. We hope that you will continue this
new support for democracy which will help
the causes of humanitarianism and
international peace.
With Respect,
Executive Committee of the Iran
National Front- Organizations Abroad
